Snoop Dogg Gets Australian Tour Approval

(WENN) Rapper Snoop Dogg has been given the go-ahead to proceed with his tour of Australia, just days after officials "Down Under" announced they were reconsidering their initial visa approval following a flurry of complaints.

"The Drop It Like It's Hot" star, real name Cordozar Calvin Broadus Jr. was barred from obtaining a visa in August 2007 because of his criminal record, which includes drugs and firearms offences dating back to 1990.

Australia's new government lifted the ban last week on August 26, leaving him free to complete a planned tour of the country with fellow hip-hop icon Ice Cube in October.

But the live dates were thrown back into jeopardy just hours after ministers announced their decision, because of a series of objections from the public. immigration officers then declared they were to rethink the visa, and would take a "more thorough assessment of Mr. Broadus' character" before giving a final decision.

According to online reports, Snoop Dogg has now been fully approved and will be allowed into the country when the Australian leg of his tour kicks off in Brisbane on October 29.

Rapper Snoop Dogg is named as A witness in A Bay area Rappers murder trial

Snoop Dogg has reportedly been named as a witness in the murder trial of Bay Area rapper Mac Minister.
Mac Minister, born Andre Dow, is accused of killing Kansas City rapper Fat Tone and his friend Jermaine "Cowboy" Akins in Las Vegas in 2005.

Authorities claim Fat Tone and Akins were last seen leaving a Las Vegas hotel with Mac Minister and were later found shot dead at a construction site by a security guard.

Authorities claim Minister lured Fat Tone and Akins to the hotel claiming he would introduce them to Snoop Dogg.

Mac Minister and Snoop Dogg have collaborated on various records and have attended award shows together.

Authorities believe Mac Minister killed Fat Tone in retaliation for the murder of Bay Area rapper Mac Dre.

Mac Dre was shot and killed in a 2004 drive by shooting in Kansas City and Fat Tone was considered a person of interest in the murder but never a suspect.

According to The Las Vegas Review Journal, Mac Minister's trial begun Tuesday (July 15) and Snoop Dogg is one of about 20 witnesses defense attorneys could call to testify in the trial.

Erick Ferran, one of Mac Minister's attorneys, said they haven't served Snoop with a subpoena to appear in court but he plans to "if the need rises."

Just Gone Country

Snoop is high all day everyday. And that’s apparent by his new video and track of the country persuasion called “My Medicine”. It’s featuring Willie Nelson and Snoop just really wanted to tap into his country side:

Country music is the most underrated music in the world,” Snoop said. “It always has the test of time, it’s great, it’s heartfelt, and it touches people no matter what color they are or where they’re from.

High On Hip Hop

According to a study, Hip Hop songs are glorifying the use of drugs.

“Rap music is glamorizing drug use, according to a study by researchers at the University of California, Berkeley, who found a sixfold increase in drug references in songs over the past two decades.

“This is an alarming trend, as rap artists are role models for the nation’s youth, especially in urban areas. Many of these young people are already at risk and need to get positive messages from the media,” [study author] Herd said.

She and her colleagues analyzed 341 lyrics from the most popular rap songs between 1979 and 1997. During that time, references to drugs increased sixfold, and there was an increase in songs featuring positive attitudes toward drugs and the consequences of drug use, and an increase in references of drug use to signify glamour, wealth and sociability. In addition, there was a significant change in the types of drugs mentioned in rap songs.”

We do remember Grandmaster Flash’s “White Lines”….There may be some truth here. However, the same comparison could be made for glamorization of prescription drug use on television. That’s got to be up by at least tenfold since 1979. Hip hop is always the scapegoat for some bullsh*t.

Snoop A little on the Thin side man

Here is Snoop on the cover of the upcoming April ‘08 issue of XXL magazine. With a cover like this, we’re interested in seeing what the inside spread looks like. Hopefully we won’t have to see those chicken legs.

Damn, one would think the way he be sneaking chicken and soul food on his reality show, that there would be just a tad bit more meat on his bones. Poor thang.
