Lil' Wayne a No-Show for Landmark Concert in Bahamas

A landmark concert in the Bahamas featuring multi-platinum artist Lil' Wayne as the headliner, was an upset for fans when the rapper didn't show up this past weekend.

The major event was to take place in Nassau on Friday, September 26. However, it is reported that while Weezy was in town, an altercation between the sound company, TK Productions and promoter Red CityEntertainment, resulted in TK refusing to do the show and leaving the venue -preventing Wayne from performing, according to the press release.

Sources say the dispute began when TK had completed the entire set-up, but had not received the agreed upon payment before the start of the show. Witnesses saw the promoter then panic and offer to pay several thousand dollars more than promised. But after having given the promoters numerous opportunities to fulfill their professional obligations, the offer was refused.

Thousands of fans showed up at the venue, only to be turned away and asked to return for the show the following day.

Non-refundable tickets had been sold at $45 General Admin., $80 V.I.P., $200 Platinum, and an undisclosed amount in the thousands for Sky Box.

The show finally went down the next night, Saturday, September 27. It started at around midnight with over 10 local opening acts, and co-headliner Buju Banton took the stage, performing as promised.

Meanwhile, Lil' Wayne was announced throughout the night, riling the crowd in anticipation of his appearance. But by the end of the opening acts, the birthday boy was still a no show, leaving a slew of disappointed Bahamian fans.

Baby Moms Tells The Real On Weezy

Little Wayne’s ex is trying to come up:

Mega hit rapper Lil’ Wayne is about to relive the infamous tell allmy “personal business” drama once again, as his ex-wife is reportedly writing a book about her life with the New Orleans rapper. Antonia “Toya” Carter, who divorced Wayne in 2004 after a two-year marriage announced her literary endeavor last week via her MySpace page. At the tender age of 14, she became pregnant with their only child, now 9-year-old Reginae. The two married on Valentine’s Day 2004, with the marriage existing somewhere between Lil’ Wayne’s more public relationships with R&B singer Nivea and rapper Trina. While Carter blamed Wayne’s infidelity for the dissolution of the marriage in early 2006, she told the magazine that they continue to maintain a strong friendship, and that the rapper has grown to become a “better father over the years.”

Ok, we guess she does have some background, but who wants to read about that unless there is some crazy sex scandals or major dirt. That teenage love affair bullshyte ain’t gonna cut it.

Cash Money Knows How To Keep All The Money Coming In Weezy Style

Cash Money records has re-signed Lil’ Wayne to a long term, multi-album deal. Due to the recent success of his Carter III album, the record company figured it was in their best interest to retain the services of their top artist. Click here for more on Weezy’s new deal.

Kudos to Weezy for remaining loyal to the label that gave him his start in the industry. We look forward to many more sizzurp-influenced albums.

New Article below:

New Orleans rapper Lil' Wayne will remain the "franchise" artist of Cash Money Records. The record label has announced the Young Money founder has inked a new multi-album deal. Although, the specific terms of the contract were not revealed, Wayne is bound contractually for several albums, according to AllHipHop.com.

"Working with our son Lil' Wayne throughout the many years has helped us build Cash Money into the empire it is today," said Bryan "Baby" Williams, who co-founded the groundbreaking label with his brother 16 years ago. "Cash Money is a family and Lil' Wayne has been part of our family since day one."

Wayne was first signed by the Willimas brothers at the tender age of eleven, and made his first official record appearance on the Hot Boyz' 1997 debut Get It How U Live.

Of his six solo albums on Cash Money, four have been RIAA-ceritified platinum, including his 1999 solo debut Tha Block Is Hot and the first two installments of The Carter triology.

Most recently, of course, Lil' Wayne scored commerical and critical success with his highly anticipated The Carter III, which has sold 2.4 million records to date.

According to Ronald "Slim" Williams, Wayne's success is not surprising, considering the character he has displayed since first joining their "family."

"We were introduced to him when he was just a little, little kid," Slim shares. "He told us he wanted to be a rapper. He just called us every day, and at one point, even came to live with us. He just outworked everybody. He had that drive to succeed."

Lil’ Wayne, born Dewayne Carter Jr., was scheduled in a Manhattan Supreme Court on yesterday (September 15), where he was to face weapons charges tied to a July 2007 arrest.

The appearances was to continue a pre-trial hearing from last week, where Diane Hornung, the arresting officer in the case, stated that she boarded the New Orleans rapper’s tour bus after detecting the smell of marijuana, only to find the artist attempting to hide a .40 caliber handgun.

Wayne’s New York attorney Stacey Richman said the hearing was postponed to allow all witnesses to testify on one day, rather than to prolong the proceedings.

On another note, Wayne received some better news yesterday when the nominees for the 2008 BET Hip-Hop Awards were announced.

He was nominated in 12 categories, including "Lyricist of the Year" and "MVP of the Year," officially leading the list of nominees, which also includes David Banner, Kanye West, Common, Plies, Snoop Dog, Jay-Z, Busta Rhymes, DJ Khaled and "A Milli" producer Bangladesh.

Kush and Burners Keep Cats in Trouble

NY Police testify against Lil Wayne for gun and kush charges from back in July:

Marijuana smoke was billowing out of rapper Lil’ Wayne’s tour bus when cops stopped it on the upper West Side and found a loaded gun, a police officer testified Monday. “You could see the smoke as well as smell it,” Officer Diane Hornung said. “You could smell marijuana.” Hornung found a loaded 9-mm. handgun in Lil’ Wayne’s bag after she boarded the bus and searched the vehicle “for my safety” on July 22, 2007. The rapper, who won an MTV Video Music Award for his hit “Lollipop” this week, had just taken a shower and was trying to hide the designer Louis Vuitton bag when Hornung burst into his curtained-off bedroom. “He flung it to the ground,” Hornung said. The rapper is challenging the police search of his plush tour bus and hopes to get a judge to toss out the gun find. Lil’ Wayne, 25, whose real name is Dwayne Carter, faces a felony weapons charge that could put him behind bars for 3-1/2 years.

Cops pulled over the bus a few blocks away on Columbus Ave., and Hornung searched inside after spotting someone “peeking out” from behind a curtain. She first found one Lil’ Wayne pal trying to flush a bag of marijuana down a toilet. Then she spotted the rapper himself sitting on a bed in a back room wearing only boxer shorts. The cop insisted she didn’t notice much else about the fancy interior, except that Lil’ Wayne could use some housekeeping help. “Messy is messy,” she said.

This whole scene just sounds like pure comedy. Imagine Weezy little sizzurped up ass sitting there in boxers and them other niccas scurrying around trying to flush the kush down the toilet. Classic.

Who is CB4 in The Rap Game? Studio Gangsters?????

Remember the movie CB4, a great comical satire about the rap game and fake rappers trying to be somthing they are not. Well below is some new shyt as the rap game gets exploited...who is CB4 about these days, cause they are alot of rapper's frontin. I mean be real to you and do you, but just be honest about who and where you come from...you'll get your respect for you music, fo real...

Lil Wayne may be letting all the fame go to his head. TMZ caught the ’self-proclaimed blood’ taking shots at a young brotha trying to snap his picture. It seems the white papparazzi got a pass, hmm why is that?

The Papp then got mad and asked Lil’ Wayne about an incident where he and baby were chased in LA by some crips, including 40 Glocc and Spider Loc.

If you have never seen this video where Lil Wayne’s refuses to get out the car after being confronted by some 40 Glocc, aka some crips. This is some ignorant sh*t.

Its a new day in age……when gangsta’s carry hand -helds to “verify” how hood they are. Wonder which ‘blood’ rapper called onetime on the crips.

What are your thoughts?

Alive & Well

Weezy clears the air on false statements that his daughter was killed in a car accident:

“It has come to my attention that there are recent reports circulating regarding my daughter. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you who are genuinely concerned about Reginae and her safety. Please allow me to dispel any rumors or speculations and report that my daughter is alive, healthy and surrounded by family who care and love her dearly. The rumors are completely false and unfounded; neither Reginae nor any other member of my family has been involved in any car accident. My family and I truly appreciate the concern and support shown to us.”

That’s certainly good news…

Weezy Wants to be King

Weezy (reportedly all sizzurped-up) opened up to Blender Magazine in a recent interview:

The Hustle: “It’s a faucet I can’t turn off, I can try and ignore it, but I can’t ever turn it off. And I gotta keep going, ’cause I still don’t have the crown. Someone else just won Best Male Hip-Hop Artist at the BET Awards. Why not me? Huh? That tells me I’m not going hard enough. That tells me I’ve done something wrong.”

Real Life: Spotting Gremlins, Rush Hour 3, and E.T. DVDs on his coffee table, I ask him what other ways he wastes time. “I don’t waste time,” he responds. He watches TV, but has no patience for anything besides the ESPN lineup. ” I don’t watch anything where they go ‘action’ and ‘cut’ cause that means its not real. If I wanna see some acting, I can get 15 naked bitches to act out a scene. I’m a real life nigga. Life’s too short for me to die tomorrow and the only thing I know about is the last episode of Law and Order.”

Mama Said: “I wasn’t ever no action-figure kid, if I wanted to fight, I’d fight for real.” Wayne thanks his mother, Cita Carter, for this mentality. A tough-as-nails chef, she raised him by herself, teaching him early on how to act like a man. When he was in junior high, she gave him his first Glock, with instructions to empty it into the first guy that messed with him.

Damn. It’s sound’s like his mom dukes believed in that tough love. Click here for the entire interview.

It’s Been Seven Weeks. Do You Know Where Your Copy Of Tha Carter III Is?

While the singles “A Milli” and “Got Money,” continue to receive rotation on the Clear Channel matrix and sales of the Tha Carter III have slowly crept over 2 million, Wayne and the album seem strangely absent from Hip-Hop’s buzz lists. And my iPod rotation. The monsters of ’07, Graduation and American Gangster, have both stayed in popular Hip-Hop’s orbit 6 months to a year after their releases. Hot 97’s playlist confirms this fact: both “Flashing Lights,” and “I Know,” remain in their primary rotation.

Lawsuit, Lawsuit, Lawsuit

Weezy is being sued once again:

Lil Wayne is being sued over allegations he’s stolen parts of a song by The Rolling Stones.

Abcko Music Inc alleges that Weezy, his producers and label Universal have plagiarised the Stones’ song Play with Fire- which they own the rights to- on his song Playin’ With Fire. The lawsuit was filed in Manhattan and claims the Wayne track- from his album Tha Carter III- is clearly copied from the Stones track.

The company- which is seeking unspecified damages- also says the lyric “But don’t play with me/ ’cause you’re playing with fire,” is obviously changed by the rapper to “But you can’t blame me/ if I set this stage on fire.” Lil Wayne was this week knocked off the US album chart number one by Nas but Tha Carter III is still likely to be one of the biggest selling LPs of 2008.

This lil nicca stay getting sued…the Bentley, the jewelry, he even was sued for making it rain on hoes. SMH. This suit seems rather legitimate, but don’t rappers “borrow” material on the regular?

Read some more lawsuit news involved Brooklyn’s Don Diva and plastic surgery’s posterchild right now..

Lil’ Kim and Foxy Brown are used having the book thrown at ‘em — just not actually writing them. The two felonius rappers just got sued by Simon & Schuster, the publishing house, for failing to deliver on books they were paid to write. And it’s not like they didn’t have the time to write ‘em — both spent long stints in prison; Kim for perjury, Foxy for assault. S&S wants their money back — over $100K in total — with interest. Neither rapper’s lawyer could be immediately reached.

Aww, Foxy can’t catch no breaks. Hopefully she won’t be expecting Jigga to dig her out of this hole as well…

Illest Rapper Alive

Time Magazine argues that Lil Wayne is the cream of the crop:

Lil Wayne has a smoke-scarred rasp that makes him sound like Redd Foxx covering Bob Dylan. It’s hardly the voice you’d expect from a 25-year-old rap star, but then, it’s been a busy 25 years. Whether Wayne is, as he claims, the “best rapper alive” is no longer even debated in hip-hop or commercial circles. Since June 10, when his latest album, Tha Carter III, sold 1,005,545 copies in its first week, he’s been the undisputed champ.

True, this cat’s sales may be off the charts, but they took it to the next level with this shyte. Best rapper alive? Whateva.
