Kelis 1: Pigs 0

Our girl, Kelis, beat some bogus ass charges yesterday that could have had her milkshake bringing nothing but girls to the yard:

The judge ruled that there was no basis for her arrest. “I’m thrilled that justice prevailed in the end,” Kelis said. “Racial profiling is a very serious matter. Unfortunately, most victims learn to deal with this form of harassment in their daily lives because they feel that they don’t have a voice or because they’re not able to absorb the costs to legally fight it in court. I hope that this sheds light on the fact that wearing a uniform and carrying a badge does not allow you to act above the law.”

Congrats, Kelis. We second the notion, F*CK DA POLICE.

SINGER KELIS ACQUITTED OF ALL CHARGES BROUGHT BY MIAMI BEACH POLICE DEPARTMENT

(September 12, 2008) Yesterday in a Miami Court room, Judge Arzola granted a judgement of acquittal, finding Kelis Rogers-Jones innocent of all charges brought against her by the Miami Beach Police Department in March 2007. Evidence admitted at the trial firmly established that Kelis did not interfere with any police investigation at the time and that she did not engage in any disorderly conduct. There was no basis to arrest her and she was also found innocent of any charges brought against her for resisting arrest.

"We feel vindicated that the court recognized that Kelis did nothing wrong," says defense attorney Ira N. Loewy. "Her protest over the illegal and unjustified harassment of her husband and friends was protected by her constitutional civil right to speech. She plans to bring a civil suit against the Miami Beach Police for this violation of her civil rights and unlawful arrest."

"I'm thrilled that justice prevailed in the end," says Kelis. "Racial profiling is a very serious matter. Unfortunately, most victims learn to deal with this form of harassment in their daily lives because they feel that they don't have a voice or because they're not able to absorb the costs to legally fight it in court. I hope that this sheds light on the fact that wearing a uniform and carrying a badge does not allow you to act above the law."

NAS AND KELIS SET TO RECORD AN ALBUM TOGETHER

According to hiphopdx.com, Nas and Kelis have been together for quite some time. During this time, the couple has gone into a studio to record their fair share of tracks. Those songs were served up to mixed reviews but they have shared some commercial success with Kelis'

"Me and my wife was thinking about doing this record together," he recently told MTV. This follows last week's report that he had aspirations of doing two albums soon, one entire produced by Dr. Dre and another one entirely produced by DJ Premier.

"I'm doing my dream. If you could, wouldn't you do it? What else would you do?" Nas said last week. "Every time I do something, it's, 'Oh, he's doing it because this and that.' Since my first album, everybody has an explanation of why. What am I supposed to be doing here? So I wanna drop the Dre album and the Premier album on the same day. That's what I'm thinking."

Nasty's mind is still on Untitled, though. Soon, the Queens emcee is expected release a single to follow "Hero," which has been getting healthy spins on radio stations. While some may have been blindsided by a Polow Da Don produced track for the LP, Nas spoke on why he went that route.

"I was almost gonna not do a single, but I wanted a song I could hear in the clubs, 'cause I knew the album didn't have that. I wanted a song that I could hear when I'm poppin' bottles. That's what 'Hero' was for me. Polow was one of my favorite guys; he's just a nice-ass guy. ... I was like, 'No single, no video. Let's just make this a record that we talk about.' "

"Blindfold Me." Now, the duo is planning something else. This time, the two may be collaborating on an entire album together.
