Aretha Franklin Reduces Number of Chins

Now, it is always a challenge when dealing with such astronomical proportions, but we’ll be damned if we don’t think Aretha has lost at least a half of one of her chins. She appeared to be as big as a whale before, but tell us what you think. ‘The Queen’ was spotted leaving her hotel in NYC yesterday.

PETA Not Feelin Aretha’s Fur Game

PETA wrote an open letter to Aretha Franklin stating:

“Music lovers may think of you as a ‘queen,’ but to animal lovers, you are a court jester… Why not shed the old-fashioned look that adds pounds to your frame and detracts from your beautiful voice?”

Those fur advocates are ride or die. They didn’t have to go at Re-Re’s weight like that, but she does need to get on someone’s diet and work-out plan stat.

MMM Who Is the Queen Bey?

Aretha Franklin was quoted poppin some ish on your girl Bey about her Grammy performance where she addressed Tina Turner as “The Queen”:

“I am not sure of whose toes I may have stepped on or whose ego I may have bruised between the Grammy writers and Beyoncé, however I dismissed it as a cheap shot for controversy.”

Re-Re was like Fu*k that, I’m a let these fools know who the real “Queen” is. Just next time say it when you’re wearing a bra Aretha. She be letting those tig ole bitties hang on the regular.

First Natalie Cole slammed the Grammy’s for awarding Amy Winehouse and now Aretha Franklin is pissed that the Grammy Writers for referring to Tina Turner as “the queen” during her performance with Beyonce. Here is what Aretha had to say.

“I am not sure of whose toes I may have stepped on or whose ego I may have bruised between the Grammy writers and Beyoncé, however I dismissed it as a cheap shot for controversy. In addition to that, I thank the Grammys and the voting academy for my 20th Grammy and love to Beyoncé anyway.”

Did anyone ever sit Aretha down and let her know that she isn’t really a queen. That’s the problem with Hollywood, you start to believe the crap people tell you. I think sometimes it’s better to sit down quietly or else you end up looking dumb and insecure…and that includes Aretha. Besides I wouldn’t go picking fights with Tina Turner, anyway. She may be 68 but I have no doubt she could kick me all up and down the stage with minimal effort. We all saw what she did to Ike Turner in that limo scene from “What’s Love Got To Do With It”.

Producer Brings Stars Out for Franklin

United Press International

Record producer Phil Ramone says this weekend's MusicCares tribute to Aretha Franklin in Los Angeles will give props to the Queen of Soul's celebrated career.

"We're just getting artists who are going to perform songs she made famous and songs that represent how music is in her life, because it's vast," said the Grammy-winning producer, who's helming Friday's 2008 MusicCares Person of the Year show, which honors Franklin for her philanthropic endeavors in her home town of Detroit.

The star-studded affair will feature performances by Faith Hill, Fantasia, John Legend, Herbie Hancock, Shirley Caesar, the Blues Brothers and more. Bill Cosby and Motown founder Berry Gordy Jr. will be among the speakers paying tribute to Franklin, who is up for a Grammy Award Sunday for a duet with Mary J. Blige from the film Bobby. The show will be taped for broadcast on PBS.

"You get a lot of great artists you wouldn't think would show up but they all will," Ramone said. "And (Franklin) will do two or three songs to reply to them. It'll make a good TV show."

In addition to publishing a recent memoir, Making Records: The Scenes Behind the Music, Ramone is co-producing a musical celebration of Liverpool, England, that will take place later this year.
