Oprah: I Won’t Let That Trailer Trash On My Show

Oprah, who has been ridin’ hard for Obama, issued the following statement after rumors were flying that she wouldn’t let Governor Palin get any shine on her show:

“There has been absolutely no discussion about having Sarah Palin on my show. At the beginning of this Presidential campaign when I decided that I was going to take my first public stance in support of a candidate, I made the decision not to use my show as a platform for any of the candidates. I agree that Sarah Palin would be a fantastic interview, and I would love to have her on after the campaign is over.”

Oprah’s excuse sounds suspect. It would have been nice for her to just say, I want Obama to win and I won’t allow my show to be used as a forum to promote such stupidity and trash.

Oprah Loves the Kids: TV Giant Donates $1 Million to School

Media mogul Oprah Winfrey is living up to her philanthropic reputation and stance on education by pledging $1 million to an educational scholarship fund for the youth of Whitesboro, New Jersey - the hometown of her longtime boyfriend Stedman Graham.

The couple attended Whitesboro's 20th Reunion Festival, where Winfrey served as a keynote speaker on Saturday.

"I'm committed to help him help this community," Winfrey told the crowd, as Graham stood next to her. "Today I'm contributing $220,000 as my first installment in a $1 million plan for the educational scholarship fund of Whitesboro. Keep dreaming ladies and gentlemen, keep dreaming."

Apparently, Stedman has already been giving back to his community in a major way. During her speech, Winfrey spoke of how Graham reminisced about his hometown of Whitesboro when they began dating and how he wanted the town to be all it could be.

The TV queen talked about how her man has worked to get sidewalks, street lights, a baseball field and a community center built in the town.

Our Democratic Candidate for President Barack

Many were amazed by Barack Obama’s speech last night, Oprah especially:

“I cried my eyelashes off,” she said in the bowels of Invesco Field, moments after Obama accepted the nomination for president before an estimated 84,000 people. “I think it’s the most powerful thing I have ever experienced,” she added, calling Obama’s words “transcendent.” On the 45th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I have a Dream Speech,” Winfrey compared Obama’s words to those of the civil-rights leader, Franklin Delano Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln.

“He’s not an African-American candidate,” she said. “He’s a candidate for Americans.” Winfrey threw her support behind Obama early — even before the Democratic primaries got under way last year. She’s stayed active since, hosting rallies and fundraisers that even Obama has acknowledged have given him a boost.

The full Story Below:

Presidential candidate Barack Obama officially accepted his nomination for president on Thursday, wrapping up the four day Democratic National Convention in Denver. Before a stadium of an estimated 84,000 people in Invesco Field (home of the Denver Broncos), Obama delivered the biggest speech of his career --embarking upon a fight against Republican John McCain on the path to becoming president.

"On November 4th, we must stand up and say: 'Eight is enough,'" the 47-year-old Illinois senator told a packed crowd inside the football stadium. "Change We Can Believe In," was the theme, and music was the message as artists Jennifer Hudson, along with Will I Am and John Legend performed.

The historic event took place on the 45th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr's "I Have A Dream" speech.

To cap off the night, Barack was joined on stage by his wife, Michelle, along with running mate Joe Biden and his wife.

TV Guide is All Up in Oprah’s Pockets

TV Guide has made a list of the top ballers of TV Land:

Oprah Winfrey earns a whopping $385 million a year. Simon Cowell banks $50 million. David Letterman [makes] $32 million. They’re among the stars who appear in TV Guide’s annual star salary survey, based on information from TV industry insiders and published sources.

It’s pretty easy to understand why Oprah topped the list of Forbes’ “Celebrity 100 list.” Her yearly salary is astronomical.

Oprahs New Enemy

Virginia Mokopo , the former employee accused of abusing children at Oprah’s all-girl academy in South Africa has pleaded not guilty to all charges:

Former dorm matron Tiny Virginia Makopo was arrested in October 2007 on 14 charges including assault, indecent assault and soliciting underage girls to perform indecent acts. She is accused of committing the crimes at Winfrey’s Henley-on-Klip Leadership Academy over a period of four months in 2007. The trial opened in Johannesburg on Tuesday with Makopo entering a not guilty plea to all charges against her.

If found guilty on all 14 charges, Makopo faces a minimum of 10 years in prison. The trial is expected to run until 1 August 2008. Winfrey co-founded the academy in 2006, and in late 2007, issued a heartfelt apology to the students who suffered at the hands of school officials.

They better throw the book at this sick freak. Developing…

Power Players in Italy

No, your eyes aren’t deceiving you. That is Tyler Perry, Gayle King and Oprah on vacation together in Italy, and if we may add, the threesome appear to be having a lovely time together. It would seem as though Steadman wasn’t invited to this particular excursion - but then again - is he ever?

She REALLY Loved that Dog

Oprah’s dog recently died and went to doggy heaven. Now she’s going to dedicate a show to the bitch:

“Oprah Winfrey is dedicating her Friday talk show to her cocker spaniel Sophie, who recently died of kidney failure at the age of 13.

‘Sophie gave me 13 years of unconditional love. She was a true love in my life.’”

On the real, Oprah goes that EXTRA mile for the people (and creatures) she’s down with. So the question must be asked: How can one be down??

Friends With Benefits

Gayle King just came up big time from the death of a dog:

“Gayle King , Oprah Winfrey’s best friend, has moved into a penthouse purchased in the name of Oprah’s recently departed pooch, Sophie. According to deed-transfer records released yesterday, a company called Sophie’s Penthouse LLC bought a $7.1 million full-floor sky palace atop the 36-floor building at 207 E. 57th St…… It has three bedrooms, 3 1/2 baths, a large living room/dining area, and a 768-square-foot wraparound terrace.”

Damn, it pays to have friends in high places, right Gayle? “Friends with Benefits”, indeed. Look we all know what time it is folks. It’s high time these two stop playing the role (or is it?). Discuss….

Oprah: Her world Domination

Well, it looks like Lady O’s making mo’ money…. The Oprah Store opened on Thursday right down the street from Harpo Studios on Chicago’s Near West Side. The 5,500-square-foot store will house around 900 products that represent “the style and taste Oprah celebrates and shares on ‘The Oprah Winfrey Show,’” her publicist said in a statement. “The interior was created to evoke a loft-like urban feel with exposed ceiling along with the extensive use of bamboo wood, brushed metals and green chocolate-flaked marble.” Items include everything from books and workout gear – to cosmetics bags and homemade keychains – to a $300 pair of crocodile boots. The store also carries a signature line of baby products called “O Baby,” and select arts and crafts from South Africa.
