DMX is trying to turn all of his tragedy into a wee bit of triumph by starring in a reality show based on his life.
The entertainer is currently being held in Miami jail after his sixth arrest this year. He released a statement this week detailing his intentions to feature his legal woes in a new reality television program.
According to reports, the show will be called "DMX: This Life of Mine." Viewers will get to see the rapper attempting to rehabilitate himself and avoid prison time for pending charges of possessing drug paraphernalia, possessing marijuana, animal cruelty charges and theft.
“In many ways, my life has been an open book,” DMX told the AllHipHop in a statement. “[But] I haven’t always been the one writing the story. With this show; however, people will get to see and hear with their own eyes and ears what really goes on in my life and I think they’ll come to understand me a little bit better with each episode.”
The show was shot in the Arizona desert, reports Eurweb. Cameras follow DMX - real name Earl Simmons - as he reevaluates his life, talks about childhood without parents, and reveals his battle with depression and thoughts of suicide.
“After watching this show, people will come to realize that despite all the stories and all the rumors about me, despite how well they may think they know me, there is another side to DMX that they have never seen and hopefully, it will make people question what they see and hear about me in the future,” said Simmons.
This isn't the rapper's first go-round with reality TV. He previously starred in a show for BET, titled "The Soul of a Man," which chronicled his life and legal problems.
