50 Cent Wins Another Battle - His Lawyer Can Stay
On Tuesday, 50 Cent's baby mama Shaniqua Tompkins went to court in New York to get 50 Cent's lawyer Brett Kimmel banned from their court case (also see: 50 Cent's Baby Mama Wants His Lawyer Banned From The Court Case).State Supreme Court Justice Carol Edmead ruled that 50 Cent's lawyer can stay on the case. Tompkins had told the judge that she called Brett Kimmel about issues with 50 Cent over child support, palimony and her financial interest in the movie "Get Rich or Die Tryin'" in June 2005 after she had heard news report that the lawyer also had represented Sean "Puffy" Combs.
Brett Kimmel (who started representing 50 Cent in January 2007) denied having a conversation with Shaniqua Tompkins and said: "I would not pick up the phone and speak to someone I don't know who has not retained me and give them legal advice about a case".
The judge said she didn't fine enough to prove that an attorney-client relationship was created.
Both parties will return to court on August 19th.
